York St John University is public university situated in York. In 2006, it got university status. It is one of higher education institutions that own religious foundations. It has more than 6,400 students. The university is structured into four faculties: Education & Theology; Arts; Life Sciences and York St John Business School & Health. The students are able to study several subjects at foundation or undergraduate level, such as: occupational therapy, physiotherapy, film & television production, art, music, theatre, design, dance, marketing, business management, tourism, history, linguistics, literature, counselling, psychology, psychology, primary education and theology.
The university has Fountains Learning Centre that was opened in 2004. It is sited at the Clarence Street. It gives access to resources of books, journals, media equipment, DVDs & videos, etc. There are around 400 computers and a lecture theatre with 200 seats.
The Students’ Union organizes many activities. The university provides many sporting and other groups. The students can become the members.
