The University of Winnipeg is public university that is situated at Winnipeg, Manitoba. It was founded in 1967. It offers undergraduate faculties of business & economics, applied health, art, science & kinesiology, education and some graduate programs. There is Anthropology Museum as a part of the Anthropology Department. It holds several collections in archaeology, primatology, hominid osteology, and ethnology. Those collections support the research and teaching, as well as public service.
Since 1967, it has had 7 presidents. It has 5 faculties, 3 colleges, 8 centers and 2 institutes. It has campus newspaper called The Uniter. It also has student radio named CKUW.
The University also provides several programs and services for Aboriginal people. It offers special 1st year bridging programs to Aboriginal students. There are academic counsellors, Aboriginal Elders, and tutors who give social and academic supports. The university enthusiastically partners with some Aboriginal communities. The university is currently providing the only master’s degree of Development Practice.
