University of the West of England is university that is situated in Bristol. It is also known as UWE. The university has more than 3,000 staff and 27,000 students. Its main campus is Frenchay. It is around 4 miles at the north of the city centre. It is the largest campus. There are Blackwell’s book store and NatWest bank at Frenchay campus. In the middle of 2006, the university opened a new sports centre at Frenchay. It has court for some sports, like: basketball, badminton, 5-a-side football, netball, indoor hockey and volleyball. It also has a hockey pitch, 70-station fitness suite and changing rooms. If the students want to get counselling, advice and career development, they can go to Centre for Student Affairs that is provided at Frenchay.
The university also has campuses at Glenside and Bower Ashton. Glenside campus is located on Blackberry Hill. It houses the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences. It also comprises Glenside Museum. Bower Ashton campus was formed as the West of England College of Art in 1969. It is located next to the Ashton Court estate. It houses the School of Creative Arts.
