The University of Salford is public research university that is sited in Salford, England. It is around 2.4 km at the west of Manchester city centre. Its chancellor from 2014 until present is Jackie Kay. It has more than 18,400 students. It also has international students who come from China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Cyprus, India, Nigeria, Greece, Romania, the Republic of Ireland, Bulgaria and Malaysia.

The university is structured into 7 schools, such as: School of Arts & Media, School of Health Sciences, School of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work &Social Sciences, Salford Business School, School of Environment & Life Sciences, School of the Built Environment and School of Computing, Science & Engineering.

The university has some halls of residence, such as: Seaford Road iQ Student Quarter, Horlock & Constantine Courts, Castle Irwell Student Village, Eddie Colman & John Lester Courts, and Bramall & Matthias Courts.

In 2015, The Times newspaper ranked Salford as the 105th of 123 United Kingdom institutions.
