The University of Reading is public university that is sited in Reading, Berkshire. It was founded as University College, Reading in 1892. In 1926, it gained its Royal Charter from King George V. The charter was granted officially on 17th March 1926. The university has three separate campuses:
- Whiteknights Campus. It is located at 1.3 square kilometres or 321 acres. It is the largest It includes Whiteknights Lake, most of the University’s departments, woodlands and conservation meadows. In the middle of the campus there is the University library. The library holds almost one million books. This campus was voted as one of the best green places in UK.
- London Road Campus. It is the original site of the university. It is near to the Reading’s town centre. The campus is home to The Institute of Education.
- Greenlands Campus. This campus attached the university on 1st August 2008.
