University of Kent is public research university that is located in Kent, UK. It was established in 1965. It is known as a plate glass university. Previously, it was University of Kent at Canterbury that often abbreviated as UKC. UKC got the Royal Charter on 4 January 1965. Its first students came in the October of the same year. Its first Chancellor was Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent.

The main campus is Canterbury campus. It covers 1.2 km2 areas that are located about 3 km from the city centre. Recently, it has around 6,200 part-time and 12,000 full-time students with 600 academic and research staff.

There is Gulbenkian arts complex as the front door of the main campus. This building acts as a meeting place for the students and general public. It comprises café bar and foyer. The café bar opens for staff, students, and general public.  The foyer has small stage that hosts occasional show or monthly comedy night. The theater has 340 seats. It usually presents the students, amateur or professional shows.
