Stockton University is an undergraduate and graduate university of the arts, sciences, and professional studies of the New Jersey state system of higher education. it was founded in 1969 and was named for Richard Stockton (one of the New Jersey signers of the Declaration of Independence. The charter class was accepted by Stockton in 1971.
Stockton University has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools since 1975 and accreditation was reaffirmed in 2012. In July 1991, the college was re-accredited for another 10 years by the Middle States Association Commission on Higher Education and Middle States Accreditation.
This university’s academic programs provide opportunities for study in fields including Psychology, Environmental Science, Criminal Justice, Business, Historical Studies and Literature, and many others. The academic programs have been recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, the National Science Foundation, the Pulitzer Prize committee, the United States Air Force Academy, and the Fulbright Program. All of them are national organizations.
