Queen Margaret University is modern university that is situated in Musselburgh. It is often abbreviated as QMU. It was established in 1875 by Louisa Stevenson and Christian Guthrie Wright. It was established to develop the women’s access for higher education. In 1891, the school moved to Atholl Crescent. It started to expand its courses and to provide residential places for its students. It gained university status in January 2007. In the United Kingdom Green Apple Awards 2012, QMU won a silver award in education category. QMU also got the Scottish Green Apple trophy in 2012.
Queen Margaret University has opened master’s degree of gastronomy. It is new and unique master’s degree. It allows the students to hold a wide range of subjects that are related with diet, food, health, nutrition, and provenance. This degree includes the Scotland’s historical, anthropological aspects, and cultural. The students will also learn about the marketplace, science of food and political and economic issues associated with food.
