James Madison University (JMU) is a public coeducational research university. It is located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, United States. It is founded in 1908 as the State Normal and Industrial School for Women at Harrisonburg. James Madison University established by Virginia General Assembly. The first president of the university is Julian Ashby Burruss. The university is opened in 1909 with an enrollment of 209 students and a faculty of 15. In 2012, this university received the more than 22.648 applications. It offers 115 degree programs on the bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist and doctoral levels.
