Jacksonville State University was established in 1883. First, it was named Jacksonville State normal school from 1883 to 1930. It was a long time. However, its development leaded it into Jacksonville State Teacher College till 1957. In 1957 to 1967, this campus was renamed into Jacksonville State College and expanded its education becomes University right now.
