Bulmershe College of Higher Education (BCHE), Reading was an education institution in the Reading suburb of Woodley, in the English county of Berkshire. This college opened for teaching in 1964 but merged with the University of Reading in 1989 to create the Bulmershe Court campus.
Bulmershe College of Higher Education (BCHE), Reading concentrated in humanities subjects such as History, Geography, and English. It also housed a permanent writer in residence, Sue Krisman, author of ‘Ducks and Drakes’, who ran courses for students in creative writing.
The college played host to a wide variety of disparate student communities:
- The long-standing Education degree courses attracted a large body of sports palyers and followers, and those of a competitive nature.
- Adding Arts and Humanities faculty to a large number of mature students from the immediate local community, especially women.
- The theatre, drama, and film.
- Community and Social Work studies were attended by a significant body of black students.
