Valdosta State University was established in 1906 under the name of Valdosta State. The University was founded by a group of legislators and civic leaders who work for the passage of legislation to establish the college and changed its name as it is now in 1993. The university is part of the University System of Georgia which has 12,491 students come from 50 states, 3 US territories, and more than 60 countries.
