University of the Highlands and Islands is a research institution and federation of thirteen colleges in Highlands and Islands of Scotland. It is often abbreviated as UHI. It has some programmes of postgraduate, undergraduate, and research. The executive office of this university is in Inverness. There are around 7,732 students on postgraduate and undergraduate courses. The further education students are around 33,000 students. This university has 70 learning centres that are spread in the Highlands and Islands, Perthshire and Moray. In 2001, it is known as the UHI Millennium Institute. The Privy Council gave UHI taught degree awarding powers in 2008. It got University status from the Privy Council in February 2011.
