University at Albany is an institution for research established in 1844 with five former names. They were State Normal School from 1844 to 1890, New York State Normal College from 1890 to 1914, New York State College for Teachers from 1914 to 1959, State University of New York College of Education at Albany from 1959 to 1961, and State University College at Albany from 1961 to 1962. The motto is wisdom, for both its own sake and for the sake of teaching. University at Albanyhas 940 academic staffs and 17500 students. The students are 12950 students of undergraduates and 4700 students of postgraduates. Located in Albany, the campuses are situated in suburban above 586 acres or 2.37 km2. The students have opportunity to choose over 600 study programs including abroad programs.
