‘Take a Stand’ is a simple motto of Universite du Quebec a Montreal. It is a French language university and is a comprehensive public university based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is the largest constituent element of the Universite du Quebec (UQ), a public university system. Although it is a part of UQ network, UQAM possesses a relative independence which allows it to create own diplomas and choose its rector.

The campus of Universite du Quebec a Montreal was designed by DimitriDimakopoulus and is located in downtown Montreal, with most buildings in the Quartier Latin neighbourhood near the Berri-UQAM Metro Station. This university provides training on its campus such as UQAM Lanaudiere, UQAM Laval, UQAM Monteregie, and UQAM Quest-de-l’ile. There are some notable alumni from this university such as Louise Beaudoin (former Quebec minister of international relations)’ Pierre Dansereau( pioneer of ecology), StevanHarnad (Open Access Activist), Gerald Larose (union leader), Regine Robin (famous novelist), and many others.
