Sophie Davis School of BiomedicalEducation is a seven-year medical program (BS/MD) that is established at The City College of the City University of New York in New York City.This university offers an integration baccalaureate education with preclinical medical education. It has a twofold mission; they areto expand access to medical careers among inner-city youths, particularly among underrepresented minorities, and to encourage the pursuit of primary care specialties among its graduates. It established in 1973 to address the growing need in the United States. It has a curriculum where approximately 40% of graduates become primary care physicians. Then the students whodo not choose to become primary care physicians, they must repay the school a fee. In 2003, Sophie Davis School of BiomedicalEducation moved into its permanent home in Townsend HarrisHall. It had been renovated as part of CCNY’s Terra Cotta Restoration Project, and its classroom,rooms, a long-distance conference room, and teaching laboratories has been built modern teaching capabilities.
