Hereford College of Education Hereford was established in 1902 and the only higher education institution in Herefordshire. It was a teacher training college in the English city of Hereford. It was active from 1902-1977. It provided training for teachers and the system was two year courses leading to the Certificate in Education and later three-year courses. It was an all-female college actually. Hereford College of Education Hereford was the constituent college of the University of Birmingham that operated for many years before closing in 1977 after cost-cutting measures by the Government of the time. It was included a reduction in the number of teacher training programmes. Hereford is a unique county. It could hop on a bus in the City Centre.
