Cardiff University is a  public research university that is sited in Cardiff, Wales. This uiversity has three colleges which are divided into 26 academic schools. The colleges are Physical Sciences and Engineering; Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; and Biomedical and Life Sciences. It was founded in 1883 named University College of South Wales. It got its own degree in 1999 and the name was changed to Cardiff University. In Wales, this university is the second oldest.  It is also the only one university in Wales that become a member of Russell Group of the Research Intensive Universities. It strongly focuses on research. The University has many sports teams compete in the BUCS leagues. The University has fourteen student halls and several student houses through the city of Cardiff. The Halls are: Aberdare Hall, Aberconway Hall, Cartwright Court, University Hall, Colum Hall, Senghennydd Court, Talybont Halls, Roy Jenkins Hall, Gordon Hall, and Senghennydd Hall.The buildings are created in many architectural styles and ages. The university guarantees a place in the Halls for the first-year students.
