Bishop Grosseteste University (abbreviated as BGU) is a public university that is located in Lincoln. It was originally established as teacher training college in 1862. It got university status on December 2012. Currently, it has about 2,300 full-time students in various programmes and courses. The university is only in uphill Lincoln. It is located near the Cathedral and Castle. Some buildings from 1840s are still in use until now. In 2012, the University’s library was completed. It was opened in 2013 by Anne, Princess Royal. The library has space for the Lincolnshire Collection and the Teaching Resources Collection. The university is completed with a sport and fitness centre which consist of one non-standard dimension sports hall, one gym, and one field. The gym has cardio and resistance machines. The field is divided into two football pitches. There is also students’ union that has an SU manager, 12 part-time executive students, and sabbatical officers. It has 2,420 students which consist of 1,735 undergraduates and 685 postgraduates.
